Edit pages with Markdown
Phase 1 sandbox: change copy in one file, rebuild the contribute Worker, and see the result under /preview/. The live public site is unchanged until a later phase.
Editor loop: edit
content/site.md on GitHub → branch + PR → contribute build → open contribute.theworldandme.net/preview/…
Heading rules
# Page name— starts a page. Must be one of: Home, About, Programs, Team, Get involved, Historical sites.## Heading— section on that page.### Subheading— smaller section.- Normal paragraphs, lists,
**bold**, links[text](url).
Shortcodes (rich embeds)
Put these alone on a line. The build replaces them with carousels, maps, and other components. Typos fail the build on purpose.
{{hero id}}— large image{{carousel id}}— swipeable images{{gallery id}}— responsive image grid{{figure id}}— one image + caption{{callout id}}— highlighted note{{map id}}— Leaflet map with pins
Allowed id values live in content/embeds.json (ask a developer before inventing new ids or shortcode types).
Try it
- Open Home preview and Historical sites (Fort Koshkonong map).
- Change a sentence under
# Aboutincontent/site.md. - After the contribute Worker rebuilds, refresh the preview.
What not to edit here
- Site name and main nav chrome —
content/site.ts - Program card titles/slugs — also
content/site.ts(overview text stays in Markdown) - Menus / flyouts — built into the page chrome, not shortcodes
